| The 80 sq meters large cottage Roder castle with sophisticated equipment (*** Stars in 2005) and central heating is located in a quiet side street. | Colijnsplaat in the community Wissenkerke is an ancient fishing village. Surrounded by fields and large protected areas are located between the cities and Zierikzee Goes with its medieval city cores. The village offers a good infrastructure. Surroundings: Colijnsplaat in the district of Noord-Beveland, is situated at the Oosterschelde between the cities of Goes and Zierikzee. Colijnsplaat has it’s own fishermen´s harbour; the marina is one of the largest of the district.In Colijnsplaat you find:small beach, old windmille, marina, fishermen´s harbour, Supermarket “Spar” with selfservice (catering possible), Bakery, Fish-shop (fresh, baked, with sandwich or french fries), Shop for gifts, toys and goods for daily use (EC-cash), Shop for biological produce, Pharmacy, Liquor shop, Hairdresser, Bike rental, Restaurant ‘De Scheepsruim’, Restaurant "De Schelde", Restaurant "Bras de Mer", * „Cafétarie De Linde", Chinese restaurant, Postoffice, Mailboxes (letters intended to be send outside of Colijnsplaat: "overige bestemmingen"), Card telephone, Glass disposal, Money-machine, Doctor (also sale of medication). All these places can be reached by foot. The distance to the beach is about 2,5 km. Tourist attractions in the region are: The Oosterschelde, a bay of the North Sea. It is about 5 km long and has normal tides. It is a protected area (National Park) and famous for its resources of mussels and fish. The water has an excellent quality. Diving and all kinds of watersportactivities are possible., The Veerse Meer is a big lake, a great area for sailing and (kite)surfing. ‘Deltapark Neeltje Jans’, a water themepark with lots to learn and do. With an exhibition on the 1953 flood disaster. The Stormvloedkering, the world famous storm surge barrier. The city of Vlissingen with his long boulevard (at the Westerschelde). The cities of Middelburg and Zierikzee. The city of Goes has an old harbour with typical Dutch flat boats with red or beige sails, and a historical bridge. The smaller towns of Veere, Domburg, Oostkapelle, Kortgene and Renesse. At Colijnsplaat there are possiblities for swimming in the ocean, walking, jogging, inline skating, biking (bike rental in the village), fishing (licence can be get at the post office), sport fishing and fishing by boat, sailing, tennis, diving, boot trips on the Veerse Meer and on the Oosterschelde to the “Stormvloedkering - Island Neeltje Jans” with a visit to the “Delta-Expo”. At the island of Noord-Beveland you will find walking- and (guided) biking trails. Around the Veerse Meer there are great possibilities for surfing, sailing and swimming.In Kamperland you can take the (pedestrians and bikers) ferry to the village of Veere. There is an indoor swimming-pool at the Roompot with water slide, artifical waves, solarium and turkish steam bath. You also find riding stables here. In Wissenkerke there is a free of charge sight-seeing tour at the cornmill (still in use). In Goes you will find “Sportpunt Zeeland” with an indoor swimming pool with two large waterslides, aquajogging, solariums, steam baths; squash, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and indoor climbing wall. Volleyballcourt and footballgrounds can be used against a fee. Goes has an 18-holes golfcourse. Between april and september there is a steam powered tourist train from Goes to Borssele/Westerschelde and back. The museum about the history of Zeeland is situated donwtown Goes. Every Sunday at 10.30 there is a mess with Latin songs, sung by pupils of the chorus school in the church “Maria Magdalena”. A walking tour through Middelburg takes you along the many perfectly kept old buildings. A bootride through the canals is an other great way of exploring the city. In ”Miniatuur-Walcheren“ you will find models of famous buildings of the region. The park also shows a great collection of bonsai-trees. For children there is a train ride through scenes from fairy tales, radio controlled cars and boats, scooters, an indoor adventure minigolf court and a lot of outdoor games. In the peak season “King Willem of Walcheren and his fool Wallie” offer games for children. In Vlissingen it is a must to see the big ships at this international ferry- and containerport. The museum on history of shipping shows the historical development and todays shipping work. The “Arsenaal: Piratespark and Seeaquarium” is an adventure playground for children, that offers sights of the tropical world under water (sharks, corals etc), a journey by ship, a panorama tower, well trained parrots and pirate games. In Veere you will find an old castle with a secret passage to the harbour and the mill. The village goes back to the middle ages. There are sight-seeing tours of the “Stadthuis” and various exhibitions in the “Grote Kerk” (great church). Zierikzee has a mediaeval town wall with gotic gates, old bridge and houses of the Renaissance period. The right place for a memorable walking tour. |
